Long Beach Taxis – The Easy Way to Travel
The inhabitants of Long
Beach have always clung stubbornly to their car culture;
dutifully spending hours stuck in the rush hour traffic rather than give up
their freedom. The city enjoys a reputation as one of the most congested areas
in the entire US, so it comes as no surprise that even here, people are beginning
to realize that another mode of transport is needed. Spending an hour or two
trying to commute through the heavy traffic is arduous, and ensures that you
are over-stressed before you even reach the office and start work.
Sure, the bus and the metro are decent options, but you are
tied to a timetable and may have to walk between stops. Whilst Long Beach has some
fantastic and beautiful areas, it also has a few neighborhoods that nobody
wants to walk through. Catching the bus or metro is certainly a good idea, but
is not suitable for every situation or for every person. As a result, doing the
previously unthinkable and hailing a cab is rapidly gaining popularity in Long Beach.
Gridlock and Alcohol – Long Beach Taxis to the Rescue
An increasing number of pioneering taxi companies are setting up in the Long Beach area. They understand that there is a huge potential market in the city and a chance to tap into a growing frustration with the gridlock. Commuters are starting to understand the benefits of sitting in the taxi, reading a newspaper and letting somebody else battle the traffic. The cost used to be a problem, but the cost of insuring and buying gas for a car is making a Long Beach taxi a much more viable option.
Of course, it is not only commuters that are benefiting from the increasing number of Long Beach taxis. Going for an evening out is much easier, as everybody can enjoy a drink without worrying about driving home. The authorities are clamping down upon driving under the influence, and the risk of losing your license, or going to jail because you injured or killed somebody is not worth it. Taxis are readily available and are the only option for getting home safely after a good night out.
Tourists and Long Beach Taxis – Getting Around
For tourists, too, Long Beach taxis are a fine way to appreciate the many attractions in the city. Visitors wishing to see the Queen Mary, the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Long Beach Museum of Art can catch a taxi between locations, quickly and easily. The other advantage is that the Long Beach taxi drivers are knowledgeable and proud of their eclectic city. They are happy to provide a running commentary about the unique culture and history of this tough but lively port. For getting from LA to the cruise pier, with the entire luggage required for a long trip, a taxi is the only viable way. Lugging suitcases onto the metro or the bus is not a good start to a cruise vacation.
Growing Environmentalism – Taxis Lead the Way
For the environmentally friendly Californians in Long Beach, some of the taxi-fleets have installed Natural Gasoline in their vehicles. The area suffers from the notorious LA smog and pollution, so this is certainly a step in the right direction. California has the strictest emissions laws in the US, and the Long Beach taxi companies are setting a fine example.
